ZIP tools. A little order.
Bring files together. Take an archive apart. Convert it or give it a password. One workspace, with a clear view of what goes in and what comes out.

One workspace. Start with the settings you need.
From loose files to a finished archive
Choose files or open an archive
Choose from your device, paste a file or try the sample. File processing stays in this tab.
Review the contents and choose an output
Search names, select the files to keep and check the output format and password options.
Build your result and save it
Build checks the selected files and prepares the result. Check its exact size, then choose Save.
One workspace for the whole archive
Create packs files into a new archive. Open & extract shows the contents of an existing one. Convert rebuilds those contents in another format. Password adds encryption or removes it when you supply the current password.
Select first, save second
Search the contents, untick files you do not need and check the selected count. Conversion uses that selection too. A useful handoff can leave out the extra screenshots or old drafts without unpacking everything on your computer.
A clear limit is more useful than “unlimited”
An archive input can be up to 250 MiB. The workspace accepts up to 5,000 entries and 500 MiB of expanded file data, with 250 MiB per file. A phone can run out of memory earlier. Use a desktop archiver for larger work.
Your archive workspace, control by control
Create, Open & extract, Convert and Password
Use the mode buttons to choose the job. Create bundles your original inputs. Other modes read one supported archive and work with its contents. Switching modes keeps the source available; Clear removes it.
Choose, search and select
The file menu offers a picker, paste and From your phone. Add more brings in more inputs in Create. For an existing archive, Open another replaces the source. Search filters paths in the contents list. Select all selects visible entries; clearing the search reveals files outside the filter. Check the selected count before building.
Output format, compression and name
Choose ZIP for general sharing, TAR for an uncompressed bundle or TAR.GZ for a gzip-compressed tarball. ZIP offers Store, Fast, Balanced and Smaller compression. Name your output in the name field. Building prepares the output and shows its actual byte size. Changing the selection or settings requires a fresh build.
Current password and new password
Current password opens encrypted source entries. A new password protects the output ZIP with AES-256. Add and Remove choose the password action. Remove requires the known current password and creates an unencrypted copy. TAR and TAR.GZ outputs cannot carry ZIP encryption.
Build, Cancel, Save and Clear
Build archive prepares the chosen result and shows its size. Open & extract uses Prepare files instead. Cancel stops that work. Save in the file bar saves the prepared output. Open in and Share use the same result. Clear returns to the empty state and clears password fields. Try sample lets you explore without opening your own files.
Narrow, Wide or Full
Use Narrow, Wide or Full at the top right of the tool to choose its space. Open another tool keeps this workspace on the desk. A page reload loses the files held in this tab.
What this tool will not do
It cannot crack passwords, repair damaged archives or open RAR, 7z, split archives or TAR.XZ. It does not execute files, scan for malware or preserve a Unix filesystem backup. Inputs and expanded contents have explicit memory limits. Use a desktop archiver for those jobs.
Where this fits beside other archive tools
Browser privacy is available elsewhere too. Choose by the workflow and formats you need. These are observed features or stated capabilities, not speed rankings.
| Tool | Useful fit | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| floi ZIP tools | A shared selection and review workflow for ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ and known passwords. | 250 MiB archive input, 500 MiB expanded data. No RAR or 7z. |
| ZipTool | Our public fixture opened in a tree, showed a text preview and produced a TAR creation notification. | Broader format support than floi; its full browser and large-file limits were not tested. |
| ezyZip | Dedicated archive tasks and broad format coverage. | Page features inspected. File completion was not verified in this session. |
| CloudConvert | A server-based conversion service with many format routes. | Requires sending the input to its service. Our public URL import did not complete. |
| 7-Zip | Desktop work, large archives and formats beyond this workspace. | Needs installation. Better suited than this tab to large or specialised jobs. |
Frequently asked questions
Can I do every ZIP job here?
You can create ZIPs, extract selected files, convert between ZIP, TAR and TAR.GZ, and add or remove a known password. Split archives, repair, password recovery, RAR and 7z are outside this tool.
Does it upload my archive?
No. Archive contents, filenames and passwords stay in this browser tab. They are not saved to your floi account. Your browser saves the output only when you choose Save.
Can it make a ZIP smaller?
Deflate compression can shrink text and some other files. Photos, videos and existing compressed files may barely shrink or become larger because the archive adds headers. There is no promised reduction.
