A CLEARER WAY TO EXTRACT

Hear it. Choose it. Keep it.

Preview the clip, set the exact section and see what each audio format will change.

Your video stays in your browser. No upload, sign-up or watermark. Browser codecs and device memory set the practical limits.

How to extract audio from a video

  1. Drop in a video

Choose an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. floi reads the video and shows its audio codec, duration and a local preview.

  2. Set the part and format

Drag the two handles or type the start and end seconds. Keep the original track, or choose MP3 for a small shareable file or WAV for uncompressed editing.

  3. Listen, then download

The result appears in the same panel. Preview it before you save. Your original video stays unchanged on your device.

Using the audio extractor

The studio keeps the source preview, sound map, range fields and output choice together. You can hear the selected part before the file is written.

Use focus mode

Choosing a video opens the studio in focus mode. The Width control offers Narrow, Wide and Full. Select Done, press Escape or use your browser's Back button to return to the page. Your file, range and result stay in place. Select Focus mode above the preview to reopen it.

Drop a video and read the track

Choose video opens a local file, while Try a 5-second sample opens the built-in demo. Once loaded, Choose another replaces the source. The file name, duration, codec, channel count and sample rate appear above the preview. A video without an audio track stops with a clear message.

Files larger than 1 GB are refused before processing so the browser has room to work. Long tracks can skip the visual sound map to keep the tab responsive; the time fields still work.

Set a range on the sound map

Drag either handle to move the range. Use the Start and End fields when you need a repeatable time. Use full video resets both points. The preview button plays only the selected range.

ChoiceWhat it does
Keep originalCopies a supported encoded track into an audio-only container. No new audio encode is made.
MP3Decodes the selected range and writes a compact MP3. Choose 128, 192 or 256 kb/s.
WAVDecodes the range and writes uncompressed 16-bit PCM. The file is larger but easier to edit.
Preview selectionPlays the selected range in the source video. It does not export anything.
Create audioRuns the selected operation in a local worker. The result appears with its own player and download button.
CancelStops an in-progress export. The source video stays available.
Download audioSaves the finished file after you have listened to it.

Choose MP3 quality

The MP3 quality menu sets the new encode rate. 128 kb/s makes a smaller file for speech. 192 kb/s is a balanced default. 256 kb/s keeps more detail but uses more bytes.

The size estimate uses your selected range, source sample rate and format. It is an estimate until the file is created.

What it will not do

AVI files are not supported by this browser parser. The tool does not download a video from a link, separate vocals from music or repair an unsupported codec. It exports one audio track at a time. Use the audio trimmer for an audio file you already have, or transcribe the audio when you need words.

Keyboard shortcuts

Tab reaches the range handles and arrow keys nudge a focused handle by 0.1 seconds. Shift and an arrow nudges it by one second. There are no extra shortcuts for export.

Frequently asked questions

Can I extract audio from an MP4?

Yes. Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file that has an audio track. The tool reads the track in your browser and lets you keep it, make an MP3 or make a WAV.

Does this upload my video?

No. The video file is passed to a local worker in your browser. It does not go to floi for processing. A signed-in account can save settings and numeric activity, but never the video bytes, filename or preview.

What does Keep original do?

It copies the encoded audio packets into an audio-only file when the source codec fits a supported container. That avoids a new lossy encode. A cut can follow nearby packet boundaries, so the saved start and end may be slightly different from the handles.

Should I choose MP3 or WAV?

Choose MP3 when you need a small file that plays almost everywhere. Choose WAV when you plan to edit or process the sound and want uncompressed PCM. WAV files are much larger, and neither format can restore detail already lost in the source.

Can I extract only part of a video?

Yes. Set Start and End below the preview, or drag the handles on the sound map. The tool exports only that range. The video picture is never included in the result.

Is there a file size limit?

Choose a video under 1 GB. That gate leaves room for browser decoding and local export. Your device memory and the codecs available in the browser can still set a lower practical limit.

Can I extract audio from a YouTube link?

No. This page accepts a video file selected from your device. If you have permission to use a video, download it through the service that provides it, then bring that file here.
