Using the date calculator
The tool opens with the next 30 calendar days as an example. Replace either date and the answer updates immediately.
Days between, Add / subtract or Days until
| Mode | What to enter | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Days between | Start date and End date. Today fills the first date. Swap dates reverses their order. | A positive count. The first and last dates refer to calendar order, even when you enter them backwards. |
| Add / subtract | A start date, Forward or Backward, and the number of years, months, weeks and days. | The resulting date and weekday. Working days uses only the Working days amount. |
| Days until | Your big day. | Days to go from today, or days since a past date. Today comes from your device. |
Calculate dates checks the same inputs as the automatic updates. Try an example restores the next 30 days. The four what-if buttons also demonstrate working days, New Year and a leap-day interval.
Choose your endpoints
Include the first date and Include the last date decide which boundaries count in Days between. They apply to the earlier and later date respectively.
| 2 to 16 November 2026 | Calendar days | Working days, Mon to Fri |
|---|---|---|
| First excluded, last included. Default. | 14 | 10 |
| Both included | 15 | 11 |
| Both excluded | 13 | 9 |
| First included, last excluded | 14 | 10 |
The working-day examples assume no extra holidays. Add / subtract always treats its start as day zero. It counts eligible dates as it moves forward or backward.
Set your working week and holidays
Every day includes weekends and holidays. Working days removes the days selected in Your working week and your extra excluded dates.
Choose a Working-week preset or press the weekday buttons to mark days off. Exclude a specific date adds a holiday, leave day or closure. Press its × to include it again. In Working days, you can also select a calendar date to toggle that extra exclusion.
- The default week takes Saturday and Sunday off. Friday + Saturday, Sunday only and no weekly days off are available.
- Keep at least one working day when using Working days.
- Up to 500 extra dates can be held in this tab. Duplicate dates count once.
- A holiday on a weekly day off is not subtracted twice. Dates outside the counted range have no effect.
Read the result and calendar
The main answer follows Every day or Working days. Calendar days, Working days, Days off and Extra dates off show the same interval under your selected working-week rules.
The smaller weeks and calendar-month breakdowns describe elapsed time between the date boundaries. Endpoint checkboxes change the counted dates, while that elapsed span stays the same.
The calendar distinguishes counted dates, weekly days off and extra exclusions. Outlined dates are your inputs. Previous month and Next month move through long ranges. The explanation below names the exact endpoints and holiday assumptions.
Make a date card
Make a card opens a live image preview. Card design and the thumbnail gallery choose the same template.
| Control | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Card design | Eight compositions: an almanac, boarding pass, orbital scene, botanical card, blueprint, postcard, bold type or minimal layout. |
| A title | Up to 48 characters. Leave blank for a title suited to the calculation. Long text shrinks or ends with an ellipsis. |
| A little note | Up to 96 characters. Tall cards allow two lines. Landscape has one line. Long text may end with an ellipsis. |
| Include the mini calendar | Show the first and last months of your range, with a key for regular days, days off and extra days off. Landscape keeps a compact text layout. |
| Image shape | Square 1080 × 1080, Portrait 1080 × 1350, Story 1080 × 1920 or Landscape 1080 × 608. |
| Image resolution | Standard keeps those dimensions. Double makes them twice as wide and twice as tall. |
Days off use diagonal hatching. Extra days off have an outlined box and a dot. The end-date ring keeps either mark visible. The card lists the days off in your working week and up to three extra dates, with a remaining count for longer lists.
Calendar-day cards still count marked days off. Working-day cards exclude them. Every design includes made with floi.dev, the date range, counting rules and snapshot date. These stay visible in the saved PNG. Exported cards are still images; a countdown image does not update after saving.
Copy, save and share
Copy result includes the number, dates and counting assumptions. Save PNG creates the selected design in your browser. Open in passes it to another floi tool. Share offers the shared device, app and clipboard routes.
Save calendar makes one all-day event on the result’s end date. Import the .ics file into a calendar app. A title and note carry over, together with the calculation. No guests or reminders are added.
Clear removes the dates, exclusions and card text. It keeps the four appearance preferences. Narrow, Wide or Full at the top right gives the tool the space you need.
| Keyboard | Action |
|---|---|
| Tab and Shift + Tab | Move between controls. Press Space to toggle a day or checkbox. |
| Arrow keys, Home and End | Choose a calculation mode or switch between The calculation and Make a card when its tab has focus. |
| ⌘ / Ctrl + S | Save the current PNG. |
| Esc | Leave focus mode or close a shared menu. |
What it will not do
This tool does not supply national holidays, legal filing rules, payroll policies or visa allowances. Confirm the counting convention with whoever sets your deadline.
It uses Gregorian calendar dates from 1600 to 9999. It does not calculate times of day, daylight-saving hours or historical calendar reforms. Calendar export needs a date before 31 December 9999.
Dates and card text stay in this tab. Only card appearance preferences save automatically. There is no public countdown page or URL containing your calculation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate days between two dates?
Choose Days between and enter Start date and End date. The default counts the later date and leaves out the earlier date. For 2 to 16 November 2026, that gives 14 calendar days. Include the first date changes it to 15. The calendar and explanation show your exact rule.
Can I exclude weekends and public holidays?
Yes. Choose Working days. Saturday and Sunday are off by default. Open Your working week to change those days, use a preset or exclude up to 500 specific dates. No country’s public holidays are added automatically. A holiday on a weekly day off is excluded once.
How do I add or subtract business days?
Choose Add / subtract, enter your Start date and pick Forward or Backward. Choose Working days and enter the amount. Only that amount is used, while years, months and weeks are hidden. The start date is day zero. With Saturday and Sunday off and no extra exclusions, 10 working days after 2 November 2026 is 16 November 2026.
What happens when I add a month to 31 January?
The date moves to the last valid day of February. In 2027, 31 January plus one month is 28 February. In 2028, it is 29 February. Years are applied first, then months, then weeks and days. A note appears when a month-end step shortens the day.
Is the countdown live?
Days until counts whole calendar dates from your device’s current date. It checks for a new date every minute while the tab is visible and when you return to it. A past target shows days since. It does not count hours or seconds. Saved images are fixed snapshots with a snapshot date.
Can I save and share the result as an image?
Yes. Make a card offers eight different compositions, an optional title and note, four image shapes and two resolutions. Save PNG creates the image locally. Every design includes made with floi.dev, the date range and counting rules. Share offers the shared device and app options; Open in passes the image to another floi tool.
What does Save calendar create?
It saves an .ics file for one all-day event on the end date, or the date found by Add / subtract. Your card title becomes the event title. The note and calculation go in its description. Import the file into your calendar app yourself. It does not book anything, add guests or create reminders automatically.
Does floi save the dates I enter?
The calculation runs in your browser. Dates, excluded dates, card titles and notes stay in this tab. They do not enter account drafts, analytics events or share URLs. Only card design, image shape, resolution and mini-calendar preference save automatically, locally when signed out or privately when signed in. The site’s separate analytics services are explained on the privacy page.
