How to turn audio into a video
Bring your sound
Choose an MP3, WAV, M4A or another supported audio file. Use up to five minutes, or try the original example.
Put it in the picture
Choose your shape and look. Add your title, optional artwork and timed captions. Select the moment you want to keep.
Save a video
Play the preview. Check Export for size and format, then press Save video. Picture and sound are made on your device.
A guide to the audio-to-video studio
Start with an audio file and a design. The canvas previews the composition you will save, including your artwork and captions.
Open audio and choose your moment
Choose audio or drop it anywhere on this page. Try an example opens an original twelve-second instrumental. Open another replaces the audio while keeping your design, artwork and captions. Clear removes the audio, artwork and captions from this studio.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play preview / Pause preview | Listen to your selected clip. Playback returns to the clip start when it finishes. |
| Preview position | Seek within the selection. Clicking the overview waveform also moves the playhead. |
| Sound on / Sound off | Mute your listening preview. Your saved video always includes the soundtrack. |
| Clip start / Clip end | Set source times in seconds, or adjust the two sliders under the waveform. Keep at least 0.10 seconds. |
| Use whole audio | Reset the selection to the full recording. The selected duration appears beside the timing fields. |
| Narrow, Wide or Full | At the top right of the tool. Give the canvas more room. Close (×) or Escape returns to the page. |
Design: choose the shape and the visualiser
Canvas shape sets the picture’s proportions. Vertical is 9:16, Square is 1:1, Portrait is 4:5 and Wide is 16:9. The dimensions above the preview show exactly what will be saved.
- Start with a look offers After hours, On paper, Deep blue and Soft peach. Each sets background, text and visual colours together.
- Waveform shows local sample peaks. Spectrum shows frequency energy as bars. Ring puts those frequency bars around the artwork.
- Still leaves out the visualiser. Your cover and words remain, with optional time and progress.
- Colours & type opens Background, Visuals and Text colour controls. Title typeface offers Space Grotesk, Instrument Sans or JetBrains Mono. Check your custom colours for readable contrast.
Content: add artwork and readable words
Title accepts up to 140 characters and scales to fit. Label or artist adds a shorter line above it. Leave either field empty to omit it. These typed words can save to your private account.
| Control | What to supply |
|---|---|
| Choose artwork | A standard JPG, PNG or WebP up to 15 MB and 16 megapixels. The whole image fits inside a square, with space around it when needed. Without it, the studio draws an abstract cover. |
| Choose SRT or VTT | A timed caption file up to 500 KB and 2,000 cues. Each cue must fit within 180 characters and four source lines. Formatting becomes plain text. |
| Caption shift (seconds) | Move every cue. Positive values show the words later; negative values show them earlier. Use the original recording’s timing, even after selecting a shorter clip. |
| File chips and × | Select a chip to replace its file. Press its ×, or focus it and press Delete, to remove that artwork or caption file. |
Imported captions stay in this tab. Their text is never copied into title fields or account drafts. Use the subtitle editor to split long captions or repair a malformed file.
Export: know what you are saving
Short edge sets the canvas’s smaller dimension to 480, 720 or 1080 pixels. For example, Vertical at 720 becomes 720 × 1280. A larger frame does not restore detail in a small cover image.
Choose a file format
MP4 uses H.264 picture and AAC sound. WebM uses VP9 and Opus. The studio checks both encoders for your selected dimensions.
Check time and size
Show time & progress in the video adds a timer and a thin progress line. The estimate uses target bitrates. Actual file size can differ.
Keep a finished file
Save video makes a new file at 30 fps. Cancel stops the job and keeps your design. Open in and Share use the finished result.
Sound is re-encoded at a 192 kbps target. This is not lossless audio conversion. Save checks encoder timing before adding your soundtrack. Review the final video with sound before publishing.
Some Safari versions need MP4 frames submitted at playback speed to avoid dropped pictures. Export can take the clip’s full length or longer there. WebM may be faster. Keep this tab in the foreground.
Keyboard shortcuts
The shared file shortcuts and ordinary keyboard controls work throughout the studio. Studio tabs also support arrow keys.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl / ⌘ + O | Open an audio file. |
| Ctrl / ⌘ + S | Press the available Save video button. |
| ← / → | Adjust a focused slider, or move between focused Design, Content and Export tabs. |
| Home / End | Choose the first or last studio tab when a tab has focus. |
| Delete | Remove the artwork or caption file whose chip has focus. |
What it will not do
This studio makes a short video from one mono or stereo audio file. It does not generate speech, transcribe captions, synchronise lyrics automatically or mix several tracks. Use the audio joiner to prepare a combined recording first.
Input is limited to 100 MB and five minutes. MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, Ogg, Opus, FLAC and audio WebM depend on the browser’s decoder. Corrupt files and unsupported codecs are refused. Estimated outputs above 180 MB need a smaller canvas or shorter clip.
Browser memory can run out below these caps, especially on a phone. Keep the page open while saving. Reloading loses the media and caption files. Desktop editors are better suited to whole albums, long podcasts and complex animation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an MP3 to a video with an image?
Choose your MP3, open Content and use Choose artwork. Add a title and choose a canvas shape in Design. For an image without a moving visualiser, select Still. Press Save video to create a file containing both picture and sound.
Is this audio visualiser free without a watermark?
Yes. You can preview and save without an account, payment or floi watermark. Each audio file can be up to 100 MB and five minutes. The studio also limits estimated output size to protect browser memory.
Does the waveform actually follow my audio?
Yes. Waveform reads the sample peaks near the current moment. Spectrum and Ring use frequency analysis of the audio. The same renderer draws the preview and the saved frames. Before you choose audio, the canvas is labelled Design preview and shows an illustrative pattern.
Can I add subtitles to a podcast clip?
Open Content and choose an SRT or VTT file timed to your original audio. The captions become part of the picture. Trimming keeps their source timing aligned. Caption shift moves them earlier or later. This tool imports timed captions; it does not transcribe speech.
Can I use an audio-only MP4 on YouTube?
Renaming an MP3 or putting audio alone inside MP4 does not add a picture. You need a video track. This studio creates one from your design, alongside the soundtrack. Choose MP4 when your browser supports it, then check the saved file before uploading.
Are my audio, cover image or caption files uploaded?
No. Reading, composition and encoding happen in your browser. Files, imported captions and clip timings stay in this tab. If you sign in, your typed title, label and design settings save privately. Files and generated video never enter those account drafts.
Why is MP4 or WebM unavailable in my browser?
Export needs both a picture encoder and a sound encoder for the selected dimensions. The studio checks this device before enabling Save video. Try another available format, a smaller Short edge or a current desktop Chrome, Edge or Safari. Support can differ between devices running the same browser.
