How to trim a video online
Drop in a video
Use an MP4, WebM, MOV or OGV file. Your browser reads it locally, so the original stays on your device.
Set the two points
Drag the timeline handles or type a start and end time. Preview the exact section before you export.
Export the clip
Choose a preview speed or mute the audio, then save a WebM or supported MP4 clip. The source file is never changed.
Using the video trimmer
The editor keeps the preview, timeline and export action together. You can make a short clip without learning a full video editor.
Timeline and exact points
Drag the blue handles to set the range. Type 1:23.5 or 83.5 into a time field when you need a repeatable cut. The highlighted region is the part that will be kept.
Preview controls
| Control | What it does |

Keyboard shortcuts
Focus the editor, then press Space to play or pause, I to set the start at the playhead and O to set the end.
What it will not do
MP4 and WebM both depend on the codecs in your browser. It cannot join clips or remove several sections in one pass. For those jobs, use a desktop editor or ffmpeg after downloading your clip.
Frequently asked questions
Can I trim an MP4 without uploading it?
Yes. This page uses video decoding and encoding in your browser. The file is read from your device and the export is written back to your device. No video bytes or filename are sent to a processing server.
What format does the trimmed video download as?
MP4 is selected when this browser has a video encoder. You can choose WebM instead. A format may still fail if your browser cannot decode or encode a track in this file. Your original format is not automatically preserved.
Does trimming reduce video quality?
The source is not changed. The export is re-encoded by your browser, so it is not a byte-for-byte cut and may look slightly different from the source. The original remains available if you need a full-quality master.
Can I remove a section from the middle?
This version keeps one continuous selection. To remove several sections, export each kept section, or use a desktop editor with a multi-clip timeline. Keeping one clear selection makes the browser export predictable and fast.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no upload limit. The practical limit is your device memory and the codecs your browser can decode. Very large 4K files may take longer to load or export. A message appears if the browser cannot play the file.
