How to crop a video online
Open your video
Choose an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV that your browser can decode. Try an example to explore the studio first.
Find your new frame
Choose a shape. Drag to crop, or keep the full picture with Blur pad or Solid pad. Scrub through the clip.
Save your video
Check the pixel dimensions and sound setting. Press Save video to make a new MP4 or WebM on your device.

Open a clip and compare the views
Choose a video, drop it anywhere on the page or use Try an example. The file bar holds Open another and Clear. Clear releases the video and returns to the empty studio.

Choose your frame
Pick Vertical, Square, Portrait or Landscape for a fixed shape. Short edge sets its smaller dimension to 1080, 720 or 480 pixels. Your new frame shows the final dimensions before export.
- Original keeps the source shape. It limits the long edge to 1920 pixels and never enlarges the whole source.
- Custom takes Pixel width and Pixel height. Enter even numbers from 64 to 1920. Odd values are refused rather than silently rounded.
- A larger output does not create detail. The source-area note shows when the composition is enlarged.
Decide what stays
Crop fills your frame by removing picture around its edges. Blur pad and Solid pad keep the entire picture. They centre it and fill the remaining space.

Make it yours and save
File format offers MP4 or WebM when your browser can encode the selected picture and sound. Balanced uses a lower target bitrate than High. Neither setting promises a smaller file than your source.
Mute audio in saved video removes the soundtrack. Compatible primary AAC or Opus audio is copied unchanged; other sound is converted. The sound note tells you which path applies. Other audio tracks and embedded subtitles are not copied.
- Save video makes a new file. Its name includes the output dimensions. Your source is unchanged.
- Cancel stops an export and keeps your framing. A completed result can be saved again without repeating the encode.
- Open in and Share pass the result to another floi tool or your device’s sharing options. Video bytes stay out of account drafts.

What it will not do
For several shots in one file, use the video joiner. It arranges and trims clips, with a shared output frame.
This is one fixed composition across one clip. It does not follow a moving person, animate the crop or invent missing background. Scrub the full video to catch a subject leaving the frame.
The limits are 300 MB, five minutes and an 8.8 megapixel source picture. HDR is refused to avoid an unreviewed colour conversion. Browser memory can still run out below these limits. Some track metadata can survive export.
For a shorter duration, use the video trimmer. For fewer bytes, use the video compressor. These are separate changes from cropping the picture.
Frequently asked questions
How do I crop a landscape video to vertical?
Choose 9:16 Vertical and Crop. Drag the picture to keep your subject in the frame. Check both the start and end of the clip before saving. The crop stays in one position throughout the video.
Can I resize a video without cropping it?
Yes. Choose Blur pad or Solid pad. Both fit the entire picture inside your chosen shape. A blurred copy or your background colour fills the space around it. The picture is never stretched.
Does cropping reduce video quality?
The picture is re-encoded, so the result is not lossless. A tighter crop also leaves fewer source pixels. The studio shows any enlargement before saving. High picture quality uses a higher target bitrate, but it cannot recover detail the source does not contain.
Does it keep the original sound?
It copies a compatible primary AAC track into MP4 or Opus track into WebM without re-encoding. Other audio is converted when your browser supports it. Choose Mute audio in saved video for a silent result. Preview sound only controls what you hear while editing.
Can I use this for Reels, Shorts and TikTok?
The 9:16 frame suits a vertical video workflow. A platform can crop its preview or cover parts of the picture with controls and captions. Check the destination before publishing. The Thirds grid is a composition aid, not a platform safe-zone promise.
Which video files and browsers work?
Open MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV files up to 300 MB and five minutes. The video must be SDR and use a codec your browser can decode. The studio checks the current browser’s encoders before enabling MP4 or WebM. A filename extension alone does not guarantee support.
